Customer Rating: Summary: A fairly typical spanish pop album... Comment: I do not personally listen to an extreme amount of spanish language music, but I do enjoy it, and I enjoy the language very much. I decided to try Kany Garcia because the description of the CD sounded like it might be something different, and it was a bit hard to tell from the clips... So was this really all that different from the rest of what is playing on spanish radio? Not really, but is that a bad thing... No.
The nice thing about Kany is that even though her music is not necassarily anything ground breaking, it is very sincere. She has a voice that sounds like a less yodelish version of Shakira. Her song writing skills are a little underdeveloped, but are still enjoyable. Her voice shines on faster songs like "Amigo en el anyo" more than slower tracks like "Oy ya me Voy". She has a voice that sounds as though it would fit very well into more traditional latin music than modern latin music.
I will admit that for me, if I actually could understand more of what was said, I may have enjoyed it more, but I have found with truly great music, language is no barrier. I have never cared about the language in an opera. I feel that if Kany follows a more traditional or a more rock route, she could really be a great artist. She seems to have a very gritty side that has yet to be explored.
God Bless ~Amy
Customer Rating: Summary: Decent Comment: It's probably not exactly fair to review such a CD when I can't completely understand the lyrics. However, there are other things to recommend a CD. The singer on this one has a clear, nice voice, and though the music wasn't exactly what I was looking for, it was quite pleasant. This is not a CD of sultry Latin sounds or pounding rhythms, but is instead a smooth, emotional ride carried by Ms Garcia's melodious voice. If you enjoy female singers whose voices can carry you away, rather than their onstage antics, this could be the one for you.
Customer Rating: Summary: A Good Start for an Emerging Artist Comment: Kany Garcia's "cualquier dia" is a interesting CD. I wasn't sure what to expect when I loaded it onto my CD player, as Ms. Garcia is a new artist and I have not read or heard anything about her before.
"Cualquier dia" is a hard CD to categorize. Looking at the CD cover, I thought it was a jazz CD, a la Norah Jones, but "cualquier dia" is an interesting mix of pop music, with ballads, and songs that clearly have a country sound "Amigo en el bano" and rock "Mujer de tacones." One song, Si ya no estas conmigo," sounds like it could have been sung by Alanis Morissette.
I liked this CD, and I will be listening to it again. Ms. Garcia has a good strong voice, and her backing band is versatile. She clearly shows promise and will become an even stronger performer once she discovers her niche.
Customer Rating: Summary: Interesting and Unexpected Comment: Not sure what I expected when I ordered this CD, having listened to many of the recent and past crops of Latina pop divas (Selena, Paulina, Thalia, Shakira, etc.), I had in mind something with a little more sizzle. Not that the absence of that disappointed me, it just was unexpected.
I found Ms Garcia's voice to be soothing and a definite complement for the instrumental backing. This is not party music, unless yours are extremely sedate; I would favor this as a selection for background music for a dinner or lounging with a few friends, it is soft and soothing, non-intrusive. P-)
Customer Rating: Summary: Nice Music Even if I Don't Understand a Word Comment: I've gotta say I love this Album. I don't understand a word, as I'm not a Spanish speaker, but Kany Garcia's voice moves me, so much so that I play this CD a lot. I've got it on my iPod and the CD is in my car. I play it on the freeway, loud. Play it when I jog, not all of the time, but some of the time.
I also play it down low, with candles burning during dinner. Background music. It's nice.
