Summary: Straight-up killer prog-metal from the DT boys.
Comment: Another classic release from Dream Theater. Nothing particularly fancy about this release that makes it a "huge" development of their sound or what not, but they amped up the hooks and melodies and built them into their technical progressive metal sound to make for an album that's both uber-catchy and intellectually stimulating. Great stuff!

Summary: Some good music in places, some cheesy lyrics though........
Comment: Apparently DT didn't exhaust their need to do a darker, heavy metal album with Train of Thought since most of this album - with a couple of exceptions - definitely feels about the same as the Train of Though material. What probably hurts it the most though is the lyrical content which most of the time sounds like a Syphony X song gone horribly wrong. (And I really like Symphony X)

I mean seriously we go from tribute to 9/11 (Sacrificed Sons) to Stem Cell (The Great Debate) to lots of other intelligently written issues to "Dark Master, now my soul is yours..." Really? So are we intentionally shooting for the 13 yr old metal-head-wannabe demographic?

Don't get me wrong, there was definitely some good moments to the album and I love their tribute to Muse (Prophets of War) and they've got some great musical movements here and their but overall I definitely felt like this album doesn't represent their best work.

As a frame of Reference, I'd rank the DT albums thusly.....

Scenes from a Memory II - clearly their high point
The last 4 songs from Octavarium - as good of 4 songs as they've ever written.
Images and Words - Classic
Six Degrees......A few clunkers but mostly excellent
Train of Thought
Systematic Chaos
Awake
Change of Seasons

Summary: A systematic and progressive metal
Comment: An excellent album, is a combination of heavy metal during the first half and melodic/progressive in the second half, just like Dream Theater does. I really like it.
The DVD shows the making of the album.........is like a "reality show" of the entire album, very interesting. There are interviews to the members, some funny things during the recording and technical info of the recording process.
In addition, I live in Chile and I did not have any problem with the payment and the arrival date.
