Customer Rating: Summary: Metal Bliss Comment: Definitely a return to form. Megadeth in my opinion has been fairly consistant with what Dave Mustaine writes. The recent Album offers the listener what Megadeth should sound like 25+ plus years since Dave has been in the business. Smart, and witty lyrics, heavy guitar riffs and ripping guitar solos reminicent of 80's style. Each song has it various qualities, all excellent. Highly recommended.
Customer Rating: Summary: System has failed II Comment: This album should have been called The System Has Failed 2. It is almost the same sounding album as United Abominations. But thats ok compared to Risk and Cryptic Writings. This is a good string of albums since The world needs a hero.
Customer Rating: Summary: good metal Comment: this is definately thier best album since so far so good so what. the vocals are much better than on some of thier alblums. and of course the awsome guitar playing they are known for.
Customer Rating: Summary: Awesome Comment: Any Megadeth fan of old should like this album very much. First came Killing Is My Business, through to the amazing Rust In peace, and then Countdown To Extinction and later Youthanasia, slowed down the tempo and added more melody, but kept the power and thoughtful lyrics. Then came along the much debated Risk, which saw the band stray from metal territory almost completely. The Megadeth metal resurgence began in the very early '90s, before Mustaine had to give up for a little while due to a serious nerve injury. The System Has Failed was billed as a comeback in 2004, and while it was a great album, this is the true comeback that i, as a fan, had been waiting for. It encapsulates everything good about the band, from 1985 to the more modern megadeth. It's classic, but modern. I think Mustaine and friends would have been hard pushed to produce a better album. "Thrash infused heavy metal" was a tag used to describe it by a certain metal magazine and i think that's a pretty good description. Mustaine has taken all the best elements that made Megadeth over the years and put them together to create a great 21st century Megadeth sound. Standout tracks are Sleepwalker, Washington Is Next!, United Abominations, Burnt Ice, You're Dead and Never Walk Alone. The lyrics are more political than the band has done in a long while, the music is sharper, the guitars sound fantastic and as you would expect from Megadeth, the riffs and solos are played with precision and fire. Also, songs such as never Walk Alone and Blessed Are The Dead are a lot heavier than some people seem to give them credit for. Infact, so are most of the songs here. This is not Dave Mustaine making an album for the fans, for the record label or anybody else; he's doing what he wants to do, and that's definitely a good thing. The album kicks butt, and if people can't hear that, they need to have their hearing checked.
Customer Rating: Summary: IT'S LOUD, IT'S AGGRESSIVE, IT'S...JUST SO WEIRD. Comment: I like most of the Megadeth albums a lot, but this one just did not connect with me. The songs just failed to make a real impact, or deliver any solid message. I felt like I was listening to a bunch of pissed-off second rate musicians who knew that the new material sucks, but recorded it anyway, in the hopes of collecting some quick cash. Hard Rock and Metal music fans will likely feel cheated by this album. The songs just don't take you to any new places. I have already traded my copy in to the local used CD&Record store. I felt lucky that the shopkeeper gave me four dollars for it. Maybe the next "MegaDave" album will be better. 2 stars!
