Enhanced Japanese pressing of vocalist Josh Groban's third album features two bonus tracks: 'Awake' and the Enhanced Video for 'Don't Give Up'. The Josh Groban phenomenon continues with Awake, his third studio album. Both of the extraordinary singer’s first two studio discs have been certified five times platinum, with his most recent, 2003’s Closer, charting #1 pop. For Grobanites, his uplifting music rises ever higher on Awake. Awake’s 13 new songs show off the Grammy®-nominated Groban’s tremendous growth as a vocalist, producer and songwriter. His hands-on approach in the creative process of Awake is reflected in several Groban-penned and -produced songs, along with musical contributions from Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Dave Matthews, Glen Ballard, Eric Mouquet, John Ondrasik Vandrasak (Five for Fighting), Marius DeVries, David Foster and Herbie Hancock. Reprise. 2007.

Customer Rating: Summary: Not his best, but still enjoyable. Comment: I am a die-hard Josh Groban fan and own every DVD and CD he has produced. This CD, while enjoyable, is not his best. (My sister describes it as "Josh Groban Light.") It is very much "pop" music and doesn't really showcase his incredible vocal technique. Lots of falsetto. But, all artists are entitled to experiment with their art, and all patrons are entitled to experience it. So, it was a good experiment, but I hope he goes back to doing more of what he did with his first two albums.
Customer Rating: Summary: Awake and Alive Comment: Josh Groban has done it again. His CD, Awake, is full of uplifting and enchanting songs- too many to review individually. He is quoted with saying that "Closer is a more direct representation" of who he really is, however, I think Awake fits the bill much better. It has a good balance of the languages, wonderful big band type music, and some great guest artists. Awake is definately worth the time!
