Dicen Que el Tiempo

Dicen Que el Tiempo

Jennifer Peña made a name for herself in the now-languishing Tejano genre, but Dicen Que el Tiempo finds her far removed from that localized sound. If anything, her '90s discs were a mere setup for the more polished, accomplished work she's released since signing with the Univision label five years ago. Peña seems comfortable in her role as a burgeoning pop diva, and her sprightly personality is what brings most of Dicen Que el Tiempo's best tracks to life. It's the fullest realization of her pop potential to date. Opener "Soy Asi (The Tequila Song)" is a pivotal kickoff point, celebrating Peña's diverse identity."Ladron" packs a fiery pop punch, and "Marzo 17" is a sun-kissed ode to love. Peña wrote most of the tracks with boyfriend Obie Bermudez, and the couple's chemistry translates well to disc. "Tu Mejor Amiga" brims with electro-tinged optimism, and sweeping first single "Como Entender" is in line with her best ballands. But it's the blaring ska groove of "Tus Besos" that will surprise fans. Peña's vocals are slinky, assured and light years away from her giggly, girlish beginnings. --Joey Guerra

Summary: Well worth the wait!!
Comment: I have to say that this is Jennifer's BEST production to date! It's been a long wait since her last release, but it's all worth it... something different about this album is that Jen co-wrote all the songs! She adds her personal feelings and experiences to the songs.... everything from her family and friends leaving her voicemails on the intro, to her outlook on life on the interlude, to her mom and sis unknowingly being recorded at home at the conclusion.

It has the perfect mixture of music from strong vocal ballads like "Tuya" and "Como Entender" to upbeat songs like "Marzo 17" and "Ladron". Best production ever put out by Jennifer!! I would recommend this cd to all existing Jennifer fans... and to anyone who has never bought any of her music, this is the one to get!! Way to go Jennifer!!

Summary: Can Jennifer's voice be any better?!?!
Comment: Wow. Jennifer's voice is awesome on this CD!!! The selection of songs are awesome too. The types of songs are even more varied than her last CD Seduccion, which had ballads, pop, and modern cumbia. This CD has a fresh new sound that I've never heard before. It's better than any Latin pop that you've ever heard before. The songs include great bright sounds from acoustic guitar, violin, trumpet, and cumbia accents with the accordion. There are upbeat and jammin songs that you've gotta blast on your stereo, like Ladron, Marzo 17, Brisas Suaves, El Momento, Tu Mejor Amiga, and Pero Que Necesidad (duet w/ Obie). Then there are great ballads: Tuya, Cobarde Mi Verdad, and Como Entender (the only sad song on the CD, which tells you how happy and upbeat this CD is!). Then there's Cuando Tu Pasas and Tus Besos, both fun songs.

Her best production yet. You've gotta buy this CD. You could listen to it over and over again. Jen, if you're reading this, you've gotta release either Marzo 17 or Ladron next as singles. Those songs are AWESOME!!! Congratulations Jen on making an even better than expected CD. You've definitely made this fan happy.

Summary: Jen is back
Comment: I really love this cd. I recommend it to any one who is a Jen fan or a musica latina fan in general. It's been almost 3 years since Seduccion was released but I would have to say, it was worth the wait.
