R&B singer Joe released his debut album, “Everything,” more than a decade ago, but with his latest project, the 33-year-old preacher’s son delivers a timeless set that clearly demonstrates his relevancy among the swaggering teen crooners. On the Nas-assisted “Get to Know Me,” Joe smoothly invites a females to get to know him and possibly “leave this party,” while pledging to fight for his lady on the Stargate-steered “If I Was Your Man.” Even in the odd collaboration with socially conscious rapper Papoose on the sultry Sean Garrett-penned “Where You At,” the Ohio native conveys the heartfelt lyrics (”Your scent ain’t on my pillowcase no more/I just recognized I’m living life alone”) with the same intensity of his adolescent days.
