ONE MAN REVOLUTION - THE NIGHTWATCHMAN

One Man Revolution We know the Nightwatchman better as Tom Morello, the guitar wizard of Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave. But on “One Man Revolution” Morello shows us that he’s a) a facile acoustic guitar player, too, b) a better than serviceable singer and c) an intelligent and passionate social commentator and protest singer urging us to “seize the time and storm the tower.” Morello and producer Brendan O’Brien keep the one-man-with-an-acoustic-guitar motif at the album’s core but embellish that with appropriate touches of harmonica, keyboards and, for the Celtic-flavored rabble-rouser “The Road I Must Travel,” fiddle. Morello gets bluesy (”Flesh Shapes the Day”) and anthemic (”House Goes Up in Flames”) and folky throughout, and these 13 tracks more than back up his lyrical claim that “you don’t gotta be loud, son, to be heavy as s**t.” Billboard
