Golden Guitar Awards gains new sponsor
Australia’s country music night of nights, the annual Golden Guitar Awards, has gained a new major sponsor following the withdrawal of Toyota.
Jayco, one of Australia’s best-known motorhome and camp trailer distributors, has signed a two-year presenting rights deal for the awards.
The new deal comes after Toyota cancelled its sponsorship last year, forcing organisers to seek a new funding arrangement.
The Tamworth ceremony went ahead last year without a major sponsor.
Entering its 35th year, the awards ceremony is the longest-running music awards concert in Australia.
John Williamson, the president of the Country Music Association of Australia (CMAA), said he was pleased to welcome Jayco on board.
“Personally, I am thrilled that an Australian family-based business that has such a strong connection with the heartland of Australia will be a major partner of the awards,” Williamson said.
“There is such a close tie between touring this great country and the music that represents it that makes this partnership with the CMAA a perfect one.”
The Golden Guitars are held each January during Tamworth’s Telstra Country Music Festival.
Telstra is the premier sponsor of the overall festival, while Toyota has focused on the Toyota Star Maker talent competition.
Andrew Ryan, Jayco’s marketing director, said the company was happy to sponsor the event.
“We are very excited to be associated with such a prestigious event, not only is it awarding great Australian talent, it also encourages travel within regional Australia,” he said.
