THE MAGIC OF THE NIGHT - ENYA
As AC prepares for its annual flip to all-holiday music (four radio stations have already made the transition before Halloween pumpkins even began to sag), Enya releases a number of appropos tunes from her “Sounds of the Season” EP, including this secular selection, “The Magic of the Night.” Because this is an artist that appears only every couple years, we’re forgiving that it’s more or less a paint-by-numbers production of the airy, plucky new age sound that has always defined the singer/songwriter. There are still shades of Christmas to the track, with its references to bells and angels, but it nonetheless possesses an all-year charm on par with her many previous hits at the format. Billboard
