Duran Duran Guitarist Quits

Duran Duran Guitarist Quits Taylor was one of the original Duran Duran members and this is not the first time that he parts ways with his four mates, Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes, John Taylor and Roger Taylor. He left
the band in 1986 to form The Power Station and to pursue a solo career and then returned to Duran Duran in 2001, to release the poorly received ‘Astronaut’ album.

After five years of working with his colleagues and enjoying a relative success, Andy Taylor said that he could no longer perform with the band, even if they were in the middle of their American tour. A post on the official website announced the change to the fans and also informed them that no dates would be canceled because of it.

‘The past five years have been an incredible journey for us all – and having the original five back together was something that we had wanted to see happen for some time. As of last weekend, however, the four of us have dissolved our partnership and will be continuing as Duran Duran without Andy, as we have reached a point in out relationship with him where there is an unworkable gulf between us and we can no longer effectively function together’, the announcement read.

Andy’s place will be taken by Dom Brown until the end of the American tour, Duran Duran’s publicist confirmed. After it is wrapped, the remaining four members will return to the studio to record a new album, which will also feature collaborations with two of the hottest artists of the moment, Justin Timberlake and Timbaland. The material has been tentatively scheduled for release at the beginning of 2007.
