Radio station said DJ drove blindfolded

Police are investigating a radio stunt in which WHTZ-FM claimed one of its personalities was driving through downtown Jersey City, N.J., blindfolded.

The station, also known as Z-100, now says on-air personality “Greg T” of the “Elvis Duran and the Z Morning Zoo Program” was not blindfolded but rather “wearing a veil made of pantyhose material on his head.”

An e-mail from the station said “the on-air bit was a staged theater-of-the-mind performance for our listening audience,” The Jersey City Journal reported.

Police were not happy.

Capt. Brian McDonough wrote back to the station, calling the stunt “alarming and irresponsible,” the newspaper said.
