Rockie Lynne has spent years on the road honing his songwriting skills and skirting country music success, and it is finally time for him to step into the spotlight. His self-titled debut already has one hit under its belt (”Lipstick”), and there are surely more waiting in the wings. The album has several straightforward country tracks (”Red, White & Blue,” “Big Time in a Small Town”), but it is Lynne’s more personal lyrics on “The Only Reason” and “More” that truly tug on the heartstrings. He is at his best on the raucous “Super Country Cowboy,” where his rich vocals and rocking guitar riffs reveal a more playful side. Most impressive, though, is that these songs really come to life when he performs live.–Billboard
