Sprint Music Store hits milestone
Sprint announced its Sprint Music Store has reached the milestone of two million song downloads. The Sprint Music Store was first launched on October 24, 2005. Sprint reached the one million download mark back in February of this year.
Songs purchased through the service come with two copies–one copy can be played on the customer’s phone, while the other can be played on a PC. Purchases and downloads can all be done over-the-air to a consumer’s phone for US$2.50 a download.
Sprint has a lot to be proud of regarding the two million download achievement. Momentum is definitely on the company’s side since it reached the second million downloads in a shorter time than the first. Still, the company has a lot of competition, especially from Verizon Wireless and its V CAST Music service, which also offers over-the-air download of content, but at only $1.99. If the music is downloaded from the PC, then it only costs $0.99. Both purchases enable music to be played through a phone or a PC.
